The council meeting on December 5th ran out of time before the motion on Honour the Covenant could be debated. However we called for an immediate vote and the motion was passed by 24 votes to 0 - with about 27 abstentions. So the council is morally committed to putting £500,000 in next year’s budget for the mental health needs of ex-servicemen.
Finally managed to get the next Focus on Holme Valley North printed and distributed. Why does it always seem to rain when you go round to see the deliverers?
Cllr David Woodhead will be seconding a motion to Kirklees Council asking for increased support for ex-servicemen who need medical and psychological help. This is part of the British Legion campaign to persuade the Government to keep the covenant between the country and the armed forces.
